Play > Replay was a collaboration with my five year old son to create a piece of textiles to create a hideaway curtain for his and his brothers toys in our living room.
We enjoyed going for walks and noticing there were diamond shapes on the drain covers in our area. If we would tap them with our toes we would collect points. It made going to the shop or running errands more interesting, for sure!
Together, we took our inspiration from the drains and drew, took rubbings, used tape to draw, made prints to represent the daily, uneventful, ordinary walks that we would go on.
I then took the shapes that we made through a printing process (sketchbooks attached) to produce the final print, which we printed on to calico and created a hideaway curtain which hides all the toys, represents where we live and the play we find in the everyday. (It also looks stylish too!)
